What can I do with this?

The Sports Studies AA Degree

  • Prepares students to move into the professional areas of athletic coaching and potential future career opportunities.
  • Students explore the professional aspects of coaching theory, sports psychology and sociology, conditioning-program development, leadership, and sports injury management.

You can use this to:

  • Earn a two-year Associates Degree

What will I learn?

  • To analyze the numerous roles, responsibilities, coaching styles,
    and philosophies in the coaching profession.
  • To evaluate and develop a risk management plan for equipment,
    athletes, supervision, facilities, and additional areas that are
    specific to the sport.

  • To create a career plan matched to their skills, aptitudes, and
    professional requirements.

  • To design a year-round training program specific to their sport
    of choice.

What courses do I take?

Note: Some courses within the major have a required prerequisite. If you feel you have equivalent knowledge and skills to those included in the prerequisite course through professional experience, licensure, or certification, you have the opportunity to submit a Prerequisite Challenge to be reviewed by the Department Chair.
