Are you interested in helping people and making a difference in someone's life? Interested in the law? Have you ever thought of working for an attorney or becoming one? Cerro Coso Community College is offering a variety of Paralegal Studies courses online to help you jumpstart your future.

PARA C101 (50824) Introduction to Paralegal Studies Online has openings this summer. This course introduces students to the field of paralegal studies and examines the role of the paralegal in the legal profession. Students complete practical exercises designed to acquaint them with the varied procedures carried out by paralegals in a typical law practice. Research and case analysis are used to familiarize the student with the various types of law and legal documents. Another sections of the course (72792) is being offered online in the fall.

This fall the college is also offering Paralegal Studies courses online including: PARA C112 Legal Research and Writing I (72795), PARA C140 Civil Litigation and Procedure II, PARA C240 - Criminal Law and Procedure (72798), and PARA C260 - Personal Injury and Tort Litigation (72799). If you enjoy a fast-paced environment, there are many aspects of the paralegal profession that may interest you. Challenging and in demand, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects an 15 percent employment growth for paralegals between 2016 and 2026, and the 2017 median annual wage for paralegals was $50,410. Becoming a trained and experienced paralegal gives you great job prospects in many different sectors: government agencies, real estate companies, or corporate law firms. According to CNN Money Magazine, the paralegal profession ranked in the top 50 jobs in the United States.
