Update, Monday, October 8, 2018

Due to construction please be advised that access to the East Wing through the Main Building will be limited to only those who need mobility assistance.

Those who do not need mobility assistance please use outside stairwell from and to the parking lot.

This is a final push to completion and your assistance is needed to maintain progress.

Thank you.

Update, Wednesday, September 5, 2018

Please Do Not Trespass  - the Main Building is still a construction zone. Therefore, no one unless authorized is to be entering the areas other than the identified path of travel that has been created from the main building parking lot, across the east bridge, where individuals can then access the east stairwell and/or the east elevator to go to the third floor for science or access the bridge to enter the east wing. This is a critical time and a push for our sub-contractors and authorized employees to get work completed so that our move in time does not get further delayed. Each time someone takes the liberty to go outside of the path of travel, construction work stops. Every time construction work stops, it increases the likelihood that there will be additional delays. Not to mention, that due to it being an active construction zone, there is potential of injury. Therefore, please do not trespass.

Update, Friday, August 10, 2018

As we begin to welcome each other and our students back to the campus for the new semester, please note that the main building is still actively under construction. However, access to the east elevator in the main building has been restored. Please use the path of travel from the main building parking lot across the east bridge to access both the science classrooms and the east wing classrooms. Science classes will resume in the main building for the fall semester.

Update, Wednesday, November 2, 2016: Main Building Closure

Beginning Monday, November 7, 2016 the main building currently under construction, will be CLOSED, eliminating access to the elevator and bridge to the East Wing (Classroom) building.  East Wing classes with students who have identified mobility needs have been relocated.  Instructors will be notifying students in courses that have been moved.

The path of travel from the main parking lot to college facilities is down the outside stairs.

Disabled Parking is located East of the Learning Resource Center and West of the Art Labs.

The upper level bus stop has been relocated to the East end of the East Wing building.

Students needing mobility assistance are encouraged to contact Access Programs for assistance, Modular 2, West Village, (760) 384-6250.

Exciting changes are in the works, thanks for your patience and understanding.

Update, Monday, March 21, 2016

Effective Monday, March 21, 2016, the parking lot at the college main building will reopen for use. Please enjoy parking in the newly paved and expanded parking lot. For your safety parking is not allowed in the dirt. The shuttle service from the gymnasium parking lot will discontinue. Individuals requiring special assistance may contact the Access Program office at (760) 384-6250 to schedule service.

The City of Ridgecrest will resume service to the bus stops located by the Child Development Center and the front of the main building. The temporary gym location will no longer be operational.

Path of travel for mobility impaired individuals is as follows:

Find the appropriate parking spot. Proceed across the driveway using proper sidewalks and crosswalks to East Bridge.

  • East Wing: Enter the Main Building through the East Bridge. Proceed to the right, and exit through the east doors to the East Wing classrooms. Return to your vehicle by reversing the path.
  • LRC / modular buildings: Enter the Main Building through the East Bridge. Turn left to the elevator, go down the elevator to the first floor, and exit to your right and through the east doors. Proceed to the LRC/modular buildings. Return to your vehicle by reversing the path.
  • West Wing (Science, Welding, Fine Arts): Enter the Main Building through the East Bridge. Proceed to the elevator on your left, go down the elevator to the first floor, and exit to your right and through the east doors. Turn right into the fire lane, and proceed west about 150 feet. Enter through the double doors on the right to access the West Wing classrooms. Return to your vehicle by reversing the path.

Update, November 30, 2015

Paving of the college Main Parking Lot will require CLOSURE of the existing path of travel for vehicles to the east side of the campus. Beginning Tuesday, December 1st, all vehicles with disabled parking placards or license plates and carts traveling to the east side of the campus are to use the Construction Entrance. This is a dirt, two-way traffic path accessed by turning left BEFORE the gym parking lot on the right. Proceed through two sets of gates, and directly ahead turn on to the access road at the north west corner of the Learning Resource Center. Please drive with caution. Only vehicles with a valid disabled placard or license plate are to utilize this route to park in designated spaces. Parking in the construction zone is for contractors only.

Drop off and pick up will remain in the gymnasium parking lot with cart service available if needed.

Pedestrian access will remain the same.

Exciting changes are in the works, thanks for your patience and understanding.

Parking

For the rest of the Fall 2015 semester, beginning Tuesday, September 8, the main parking lot will be closed off. All employees and students will be parking in the gym parking lot except those with valid disabled parking placards or license plates. In order to provide closer access for those individuals we will be increasing disabled parking spaces down by the LRC and behind the Fine Arts Building, which will be for disabled parking only. There will be disabled parking spaces in the gymnasium parking lot as well in the first row of parking spaces next to the West Village complex.

We are implementing a ‘one way' traffic path for those needing to park in the disabled parking by the LRC and Fine Arts Buildings. It will begin by turning off of College Heights Blvd into what is currently our exit road (which will be two way for a short distance) and continuing down into the fire lane egress (also known as “the moat” running along the front of the main building). The route will take a turn to the left down towards the LRC and continue behind the building heading west towards Fine Arts. Then to exit the route will resume taking vehicles toward the sculpture garden, connecting back up with the exit road. We ask that only cars with a valid disabled placard or license plate utilize this route in order to park in one of the designated spaces. Anyone being dropped off or picked up needs to do so in the gymnasium parking lot and utilize our cart service if needed.

There will be carts that can transport students and staff from the gymnasium parking lot to the main building area following the above route, giving priority to those who are in need of mobility assistance during peak times. There are walking paths that you can take between the two sides of our campus as well. Additionally, the sculpture garden is getting additional lighting so you may cut across that area as well. We ask that you yield to all vehicles. To ensure minimizing traffic on the one-way loop we are enforcing that drop-off and pick-up be done in the gymnasium parking lot.

Ridgecrest Transit

While the main parking lot is closed the city transit authority has informed us that they will be dropping off and picking up riders only in front of the gymnasium. This means they will not be dropping off or picking up at the Child Development Center stop. We will have carts available to transport students, giving priority to those who are in need of mobility assistance during peak times.

Access to East Wing and Science Labs

During the modernization of the main building students and employees who need to access these areas are requested to use the following path of travel.

East Wing: The East Wing Building can be accessed by using the stairs located outside on the west entrance of the East Wing Building. Students needing mobility assistance can access the Main Building elevator from the first floor through the east entrance. They then can access the second floor bridge that connects the Main Building to the East Wing.

Science Labs: The Science Labs and faculty offices on the third floor can be accessed by using the northeast stairwell. Students needing mobility assistance can access the Main Building elevator from the first floor by using the east entrance.
