Painter Brad Spence ‘Catch a Falling Knife’ Exhibition opening Friday March 13 at Cerro Coso

Cerro Coso is excited to feature Spence’s exhibition in the beautiful gallery space in our Learning Resource Center. Food, refreshments, and wine to be provided thanks to the generosity of The Cerro Coso Community College Foundation.
A well-known contemporary artist, Spence has been featured and reviewed in numerous publications, including Artforum, Artweek, ArtUS, Art Issues, Art Journal, Artscene, Art Papers, Flash Art, Juxtapoz, X-Tra, Artillery and New Art Examiner.
He is known for large-scale acrylic works that have featured everything from popular culture (Pink Floyd, Star Trek: The Next Generation) to philosophy trade paperbacks
Spence has worked with representations ranging from painting to photographic and digital “with consistently laudable results,” according to Jan Tumlir in Artforum.
An adjunct instructor at Cerro Coso, Spence is also a professor of painting at Cal State San Bernardino. While he remains a working artist, he has also worked as a curator, and occasional critic.
He has taught at numerous schools in Southern California including CalArts, USC, UC Riverside, UC Irvine, Chapman University and Art Center. He curated the widely recognized retrospective of the 70s performance artist Bas Jan Ader--the first such exhibition of this work in the United States.
Cerro Coso Community College campus is located at 3000 College Heights Boulevard.
