High school students from the Eastern Sierra region are making headlines as they walk across the stage with not only their diplomas but also Associate Degrees and Career Certificates in hand.

Thanks to Cerro Coso Community College’s dual and concurrent enrollment programs, these students have fast-tracked their education and set a high standard for future graduates.

Through the Early College program, students have had the opportunity to take college-level courses while in high school, demonstrating remarkable dedication and academic excellence.

As they graduate, many are heading to colleges and universities across the nation to pursue their dreams and continue their education.

“We at Cerro Coso Community College celebrate their accomplishments and look forward to all they will achieve in the years ahead,” said Kristin Hanle, Program Director of Early College.

On Friday, May 9, 2025, the Eastern Sierra College Center (ESCC) celebrated standout achievements, including:

  • Seventeen Mammoth High School students earning Associate Degrees.
  • A Coleville student completing an Early Childhood Associate Teacher Certificate.
  • A Big Pine High School graduate receiving a Clinical Medical Assisting Certificate.

These achievements highlight not only the students’ hard work but also the successful partnership between Cerro Coso Community College and local high schools, which provides early access to higher education opportunities.

Kim Blackwell, ESCC Director, applauded the students, stating, “Well done! These students have achieved remarkable milestones and have set a high standard of success for future graduates.”

The Early College program at Cerro Coso continues to empower students to excel academically and personally, building a strong foundation for future success. As these graduates step boldly into their next chapters, the program remains committed to transforming lives through education in the Eastern Sierra region.
