East Kern Students Shine: Early College Program Produces Remarkable Results

Students from the East Kern region have reached extraordinary milestones through Cerro Coso Community College’s Early College program.

By earning Associate Degrees and College Certificates while still in high school, these graduates have showcased their dedication, determination, and academic excellence.

Through dual and concurrent enrollment opportunities, the Early College program empowers students to get a head start on their higher education, positioning them for bright futures and academic success.

“We at Cerro Coso Community College celebrate their accomplishments and look forward to all they will achieve in the years ahead,” said Kristin Hanle, Program Director of Early College.

A total of 17 students earned Associate of Arts degrees and 69 students earned College Certificates—a powerful testament to their hard work and commitment.

Students from across the region reached these milestones, including:

  • 19 certificates and 14 degrees from California City
  • 1 degree from Delano
  • 1 degree from Mojave
  • An impressive 50 certificates and 1 degree from Tehachapi

These achievements were celebrated during Cerro Coso’s graduation commencement ceremony in Ridgecrest on Friday, May 16.

“Our entire East Kern team celebrates the success of each graduate and the dedication it took to reach these milestones. We are proud of their accomplishments and can’t wait to see what’s next for them,” said Lisa Stephens, Director of East Kern.

Cerro Coso’s Early College program continues to provide transformative opportunities, equipping students with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in academics, careers, and life. As these graduates move on to their next chapter, they carry with them the foundation for lifelong success.
