2025 Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society graduates.

Cerro Coso Community College proudly honored the induction of new members into the Beta Kappa Chi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges.

The ceremony, held on May 10, 2025, was a meaningful and inspiring event recognizing outstanding academic achievement and leadership.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honors students who have completed at least 12 units with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, symbolizing a steadfast commitment to excellence in academics, leadership, and service.

The ceremony was steeped in tradition, as each inductee lit a candle—a powerful symbol of knowledge and enlightenment—and received a white rose, representing purity, achievement, and new beginnings.

It was a touching reminder of the immense potential these students bring to the Cerro Coso community.

The Beta Kappa Chi Chapter warmly welcomed its newest members:

  • Cailan Baker
  • Lorna Having
  • Safiya Khalid
  • Rikki-Lynn Pearsall
  • Sasha Podell
  • Victor Zych
  • Jasmin Chavez Gomez

The event was led by chapter president Lindsay Reed, who facilitated the ceremony. Remarks were shared by Cerro Coso President Sean Hancock, who celebrated the achievements of the inductees and encouraged them to continue their pursuit of excellence.

The chapter also confirmed its 2025 officers:

  • Lindsay Reed – President
  • Alianna Pitman – Vice-President
  • Samuel King – Vice-President of Membership

Dr. Jarrod Bowen, the chapter’s dedicated PTK advisor, was recognized for his leadership and unwavering support in fostering a culture of academic excellence and service.

Cerro Coso Community College congratulates these outstanding students, wishing them continued success as they shine in and out of the classroom.
