Cerro Coso to Celebrate Monumental Ribbon Cutting of Renovated Outdoor Sports Complex

Cerro Coso Community College is thrilled to announce the grand reopening of its Outdoor Sports Complex and the dedication of its brand-new Training Room at a special Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.

The celebration kicks off inside the college’s new Player Development Facility at the Ridgecrest campus.

The complex will also include key improvements such as state-of-the-art grandstands, clubhouses, and press boxes at both the baseball and softball diamonds. Additional improvements to the facility include a complete resurfacing of the all-weather track as well as a resurfacing of the tennis and pickleball courts.

The construction of a new field house features men’s and women’s team rooms, a state-of-the-art athletic training room, modern concessions and upgraded restroom facilities, making Cerro Coso a premier destination for sports enthusiasts across Ridgecrest.

This transformative renovation stands as a bold investment in the future of student-athletes, health and wellness, and community engagement—delivering modern, functional, and inspiring spaces that raise the bar for athletics in the region.

“This new complex represents far more than just improved facilities—it’s a promise to our students and community that Cerro Coso is committed to excellence, opportunity, and the future,” said John McHenry, Athletic Director for Cerro Coso Community College.

The evening will feature remarks from key leaders and partners who helped bring this vision to life, along with a special dedication of the newly completed training room in honor of Lo Stender and her lasting impact on Cerro Coso athletics and student-athletes.

The event concludes with an official ribbon cutting, led by the Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce, followed by tours of the upgraded facilities and refreshments.
