Cerro Coso Community College Honored with Beautification Award at 79th Annual Ridgecrest Chamber Community Awards

This prestigious honor celebrates businesses, property owners, and organizations that have significantly enhanced the appearance and aesthetic value of properties within Ridgecrest, contributing to the city's charm and vibrancy.
Cerro Coso earned this recognition for its Outdoor Sports Complex Renovation; a transformative project designed to elevate the spectator’s experience and support the city’s thriving sports culture.
Key improvements include state-of-the-art grandstands, clubhouses, and press boxes at both the baseball and softball diamonds. Additional improvements to the facility include a complete resurfacing of the all-weather track as well as a resurfacing of the tennis and pickleball courts.
The construction of a new field house features men’s and women’s team rooms, a state-of-the-art athletic training room, modern concessions and upgraded restroom facilities, making Cerro Coso a premier destination for sports enthusiasts across Ridgecrest.
The project also included landscaping enhancements that have transformed the Outdoor Sports Complex into a picturesque space.
Thoughtfully designed greenery and inviting walkways now greet visitors, providing a welcoming environment that enhances the overall aesthetic appeal of the college.
Perched on a rise overlooking Ridgecrest, Cerro Coso boasts what many call "the best view in town," offering sweeping vistas of the city and surrounding desert landscape.
The renovations have further highlighted the college's unique location, making it a visual and cultural landmark for the community. Athletes will also enjoy substantial benefits, with the addition of cutting-edge indoor player development training space and locker rooms.
This investment reflects the college's commitment to fostering athletic excellence and community engagement. In collaboration with the City of Ridgecrest, Cerro Coso helped secure Measure J funds to repave the road from Javis to the college, further enhancing accessibility and safety for students, visitors, and residents.
This renovation exemplifies Cerro Coso’s dedication to being a cornerstone of Ridgecrest’s educational, cultural, and economic development.
The college is honored to receive the Beautification Award and remains committed to building a brighter, more beautiful future for the entire community.
