A degree or certificate is always significant for those who earn it, but Cerro Coso’s graduation last week was noteworthy for another reason. 272 graduates walked in the Commencement on May 16, 2025, making it the largest ceremony in CCCC history.

The event was joyous all around as graduates, wearing their caps and gowns, crossed the stage to the applause and cheers of family and friends in a full house. This milestone event highlights the college's continued dedication to empowering students and supporting their success in an ever-evolving world.

This year, 680 graduates earned an impressive 1,172 awards, highlighting the breadth and depth of their academic accomplishments.

These awards include:

  • 632 Associate Degrees
  • 499 Certificates of Achievement
  • 41 Job Skills Certificates

Graduates represent diverse programs and campuses across the college:

  • 221 from the Indian Wells Valley (IWV) campus
  • 64 from the Eastern Sierra College Center (ESCC)
  • 169 from the East Kern campus
  • 23 from the Rising Scholars program
  • 226 who attended online

Notable highlights of the Class of 2025 include 119 graduates who are still in high school, 9 active military personnel or veterans, and students hailing from 9 different states. The graduates’ dedication is further reflected in the average time to complete their education, 4.2 years, as they juggled careers, families, and studies to achieve their academic goals.

This historic graduating class was celebrated during ceremonies at Cerro Coso's campuses. The Eastern Sierra College Center (ESCC) held its commencement on May 9 in Bishop, California, while the Indian Wells Valley (IWV) campus honored its graduates on May 16. Both events captured the pride, the joy, and the significance of this milestone for students and their loved ones.

“This year’s graduating class is nothing short of extraordinary. It has not only achieved academic excellence but has also shown immense dedication and perseverance. The Class of 2025 embodies what it means to overcome challenges and emerge stronger. As you step into the next phase of your journey, know that the entire Cerro Coso community is cheering you on and celebrating your success,” said Dr. Hancock, President of Cerro Coso.

Cerro Coso Community College is honored to recognize the achievements of the Class of 2025, the largest class to walk in the college’s history, and looks forward to seeing the incredible impact they will have on their communities and beyond.
