Extended Opportunity Program and Services (EOPS)

Welcome to the Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) providing services to Cerro Coso Community College online students, students at the Ridgecrest/IWV, Kern River Valley (KRV), East Kern: Tehachapi, and Eastern Sierra (ESCC) Bishop and Mammoth Lakes campuses. The Cerro Coso Community College EOPS Program was developed in 1975 to give community people who have financial and academic need an opportunity to obtain their dreams. EOPS assists and aids in meeting the needs of all eligible students with grants and services such as: placement in math and English, counseling, peer counseling, career development, academic monitoring, priority registration, transportation, and textbook vouchers.

EOPS Qualifications

  • Enrolled in 12 units for fall or spring or 6 units for summer at Cerro Coso Community College
  • Be a California resident – AB 540/CA Dreamers are welcome to apply
  • Demonstrate financial need by qualifying for a California College Promise Grant (formerly known as the BOG Fee Waiver) A, B, or C with a zero Expected Family Contribution (EFC), or California College Promise Grant D “Homeless Youth”  through Financial Aid
  • Educationally Disadvantaged as determined by California State Regulations
  • Not earned an AA/BA Degree
  • Complete an EOPS application and attend a mandatory EOPS orientation
  • Make satisfactory academic progress

How do I apply?

Complete and submit application by faxing to 760-384-6320 or email to accessprograms@cerrocoso.edu, or turn in to your local campus (Ridgecrest/IWV, KRV, Tehachapi, and ESCC Bishop and Mammoth Lakes ).

EOPS Application

ACCESS Programs will receive and review EOPS applications beginning the first day of priority registration and closing 1 week prior to the start of the semester.

Please note: If you were foster youth at the age of 16 or later, you may qualify for additional benefits. Contact the ACCESS Office at 760-384-6250 or accessprograms@cerrocoso.edu.

Program Requirements

You must complete the following steps each Semester to remain compliant with EOPS:

  • Have at least three contacts (2 must be with a counselor)
  • Your Educational Plan completed by the end of the first semester and then updated each semester with your EOPS Counselor
  • Progress Reports turned in to your ACCESS Assistant or Counselor
  • Enrolled in 6 Units or more (at least one course must be on campus)
  • Reside in the Cerro Coso Community College service area
  • Maintain a GPA of 2.0 each semester and complete 50% of Units attempted
  • Attend at least two Program Activities
  • Complete COUN C101 or PDEV C101

Non-compliance with your EOPS requirements may result in termination of your EOPS services.
