Cerro Coso Boosters to Host Celebrity Sports Dinner

Former Major League Baseball players, Bill "Mad Dog" Madlock, Jr. will be the guest of honor at the 2nd Annual Celebrity Sports Dinner hosted by the Cerro Coso Community College Boosters on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 6 p.m. in the College Gymnasium.

A pinnacle event for local sports fans, Madlock played for the Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Detroit Tigers. A World Series champion as the third baseman of the 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates Madlock won back-to-back batting titles in1975 and 1976 with the Chicago Cubs. With baseball in his blood, when he retired from the game as a player he joined the coaching ranks, working in Taiwan, Columbia, and Panama before becoming a hitting coach with the Detroit Tigers in 2000. Today Madlock, a four-time batting champion, gives hitting lessons to youths.

Catch the baseball fever and enjoy an evening of great speakers, raffles, and a live auction in support of Cerro Coso athletics. Auction items will include an authentic autographed Bruce Springsteen Guitar and Stand, Garth Brooks Guitar and Stand, Billy Joel Autographed Album with frame and plaque, Jimmy Buffett Autographed Album with frame and plaque, Johnny Depp Autographed 8x10 Photo, Joe Namath Autographed 16x20 Sports Photo, and lots more.

Tri-tip dinner catered by Casey's Steaks and BBQ.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 children (12 and under) and are available at Red Rock Books, and the Cerro Coso Business Office.
