Denim Day

Denim Day is an event in which people are encouraged to wear jeans to raise awareness of rape and sexual assault. Show your support by wearing denim on April 24, 2019.

A 1992 court ruling in Rome that found a 45 year old driving instructor innocent of rape against a 18 year old girl because her jeans were too tight, therefore making the act consensual sparked worldwide outrage. The following day all the women in the Italian Parliament showed their outrage by wearing denim. The victim appealed the decision and the accused was later convicted of all charges. Wearing jeans on this day has become an international symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault.
