Concurrent enrollment in college courses by high school students is a
privilege provided by Cerro Coso Community College. This process
applies to ALL students who are currently enrolled in any school in the K-12
system, including an adult school program. Cerro Coso does not usually
admit students under the 9th grade high school status. However, exceptions
may be made for young students who have been or can be designated as
qualifying for the "Gifted and Talented" program. Students in the latter
category must be identified and documented by the school district office and
then enrollment is restricted to those college classes that fall within
their Gifted and Talented category.
In order for students to be placed in course work in a quick and effective
manner, it is important that the process for enrollment is followed and that
all instructions are read and understood by the parent or guardian,
prospective student and school official.
Steps for Concurrent Enrollment:
Submit College Application: New students must
complete the Cerro Coso application for admission. Continuing
students must complete the application update form each semester.
Both can be completed at
MyBanWeb. The application must be completed before the student
can be registered via the Concurrent Enrollment process.
Print Concurrent Enrollment Checklist
and Concurrent Enrollment Form: The Concurrent Enrollment
process has a number of important steps. Please print out and
follow the steps on the Cerro Coso Community College
Concurrent
Enrollment Checklist and the
Concurrent Enrollment
Form.
Submit Completed Concurrent Enrollment Form
for Counselor Approval: Once a course has been approved
via the Concurrent Enrollment Form by the parent or guardian,
prospective student, and school official, the form must be submitted to
the Cerro Coso Counseling Department for a college counselor or
educational advisor signature. If the student is local, forms can
be brought in to the counseling center at the closest Cerro Coso campus
on a drop-in basis. For students who are not located near any of
our campuses, forms can be faxed to (760) 375-4776, Attention:
Counseling. Incomplete forms cannot be
processed.
Register student for class (es): Concurrent
Enrollment students cannot register online. Students will be
registered by the Admissions and Records Office either in person or via
the faxed form submitted by the counseling office. It is important
to follow-up on forms that have been faxed to verify that they have been
received by the appropriate office. Any questions or concerns may
be directed to the IWV Counseling Office at (760) 384-6219.
