KRV Campus Offers Budoshin Jujitsu Classes

February 25, 2009

The Cerro Coso Community College, Kern River Valley (KRV) Campus in Lake Isabella is offering two Budoshin Jujitsu – Basic Self Defense Community Education classes in the month of March.  One class will meet twice a week and the other class will meet only once a week. These classes are for 13 year olds and up (10 to 12 years old will require instructor evaluation) and will meet at the KRV Campus in Room G from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.  For a fee of $50, the first class will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning on March 3 through March 26, 2009.  For a fee of $25, the second class will meet on Wednesday evenings beginning March 4 through March 25, 2009.  These classes will be instructed by Steve Pendergrass who has been studying Budoshin Jujitsu for the last eight years, achieving his Black Belt in July 2007.  Pendergrass is a state fire training master instructor and has been in the position to use his skills to protect himself and his crews as a paramedic and a Fire Captain with the Kern County Fire Department.

Jujitsu has been passed down between family and Samarai for over 2500 years.  Self defense through martial arts training is the focus of this class.  Students will discover their own skill and ability while studying the art of the ancient warrior.  Along the way, students will be introduced to the history and philosophy plus a little Japanese while studying traditional Jujitsu.
