CCCC Offering Child Development Classes at KRV

January 14, 2009

Register today for the 2009 Spring Semester!  The Cerro Coso Community College, Kern River Valley Campus in Lake Isabella is offering two child development classes this spring.  Child, Family & Community (CHDV C115, CRN #30107) - Instructed by Marianne Fountain, this 3-unit class meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 9:10 p.m.  This is a 16 week course that examines patterns of family systems in contemporary society as they are influenced by heritage, diverse cultures, abilities, and languages.  The value of communication, the development of child advocacy skills, and the ability to use community resources to empower families and children are explored in this course.  Also, School Age Curriculum (CHDV C207, CRN#30119) is being offered.  This 3-unit class, instructed by Lisa Fuller, meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 9:10 p.m.  This is a 16 week course that provides information on how to implement quality programs for school-age children.  Students learn assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs.  Students use standards for quality school-age care to assess quality indicators in the areas of human relationships, indoor and outdoor environments, activities, health, nutrition, safety and administration. 

Students may register at the Cerro Coso Community College office located at 5520 Lake Isabella Boulevard during regular business hours or visit the Cerro Coso website at www.cerrocoso.edu.  Spring classes convene on Tuesday, January 20, 2009.  Late registration will be conducted January 20 through January 23, 2009.
