First Aid Courses

How current is your first aid training?  Do you find yourself wondering how you would handle an emergency situation?  Cerro Coso Community College is offering three Health Science, First Aid/CR/AED classes this summer in hopes that one of the classes will fit into your busy schedule.  This 0.50 unit course teaches current American Red Cross First Aid instruction for “Schools and the Community” through discussions, demonstrations, and practical experiences.  It includes Emergency Action Steps; breathing and cardiac problem recognition and care; CPR for adults, children, and infants; Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for adults and children, and choking procedures for the conscious and unconscious person; wound care; bandaging; shock; poisoning which includes local poisonous plants and animals; burns; bone and joint injuries including splinting; diabetic emergencies; temperature extremes; and other sudden illnesses.  This course also includes disaster preparation and family planning for local emergencies.  This is an American Red Cross course.   

Register today for one of the following First Aid classes that will meet in Room 405 in the Cerro Coso gymnasium: HSCI C105 (CRN 50060) will be instructed by Janet Westbrook and will meet Monday through Thursday, June 2, 3, 4 and 5, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:20 a.m.  HSCI C105 (CRN 50059) will be instructed by Janet Westbrook and meet on Friday and Saturday, June 13 and 14, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  HSCI C105 (CRN 50061) will be instructed by Dana Alloway and will meet on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
