CCCC to Hold "Parent Night"

Date, 2007

The Cerro Coso Community College Counseling Office will be hosting a “Parent Night” on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Learning Resource Center, Art Gallery. Cerro Coso staffers would like to encourage the parents of seniors at Burroughs High School, Mesquite High School, Trona High School, Immanuel High School, and Opportunities for Learning, who’s students intend to come to Cerro Coso and then transfer on to a four-year university, to come to Cerro Coso Community College for a presentation on the College’s Transfer Program and a general overview of Cerro Coso. Topics to be discussed will include the Admissions and Enrollment process, placement testing, and registering for classes. An overview of Cerro Coso’s degrees and certificates will also be explained.

If you are planning to transfer from Cerro Coso to a four-year university, an explanation of transfer requirements and transfer resources will be provided. It is important to know the transfer requirements so that you are well prepared prior to transferring.

Penny Tally, Special Services Counselor will discuss Cerro Coso’s Special Services Program. She will explain the eligibility requirements and the students’ rights and responsibilities.

Joann Spiller, Director Financial Aid and Scholarships, will be on hand to discuss opportunities that are available to you through Financial Aid and Scholarships.

Other speakers include: Heather Ostash, Counseling Director; Paula Suorez, Counseling & CalWorks Coordinator; Betty Mintz-Jones, Educational Advisor; Wendy Adams, Educational Advisor; and Karee Hamilton, Adjunct Counselor. Student Ambassadors will also be participating at the event.

The Career & Transfer Center will be hosting an “Open House” from 6:00to 7:00 p.m. in the Main Building, Room 224. Come by to see what the Career & Transfer Center has to offer your student before you attend Parent Night!
