Ridgecrest, CA – April 19, 2005

This fall semester 2005 Cerro Coso Community College will offer a hybrid Biology 105, Concepts of Biology course at is Indian Wells Valley Campus.

BIOL C105—Concept of Biology—Is an introductory, four-unit course in biological science with laboratory experience for non-majors illustrates the principles of organization, cell structure and function; genetic; metabolism; organ systems, and reproduction of both plants and animals; ecology, evolution; and animal behavior. This course is transferable to a CSU or UC and counts for the Cerro Coso Community College Life Science Requirement.

The lecture for this course will be conducted online. The lab portion of this course will be conducted on campus Thursday nights from 5:10-8:10 pm. This format will have several advantages: flexibility for busy students and a lecture/lab course that can be taken all on one evening a week. The face-to-face contact during the lab may help nervous students during their first online course.
