Cerro Coso Community College to Host Open House at Bishop Campus

Ridgecrest, CA – November 20, 2003

Please come and visit the new Bishop campus for Cerro Coso Community College located at 4090 West Line Street at Ed Powers Road. The college staff is inviting all the communities of the Owens Valley to the new campus for an Open House Sunday, December 7, 2003 from 3 to 6 p.m. The classrooms, laboratories, and study areas will be open for public viewing.

Families with students in high school will find Cerro Coso Community College an ideal “first step” to gain their initial college experience. Cerro Coso Community College will afford students a chance to complete their Associates Degree locally before leaving to attend a four-year institution.

Featured during the Open House will be a Holiday Concert by the Eastern Sierra Community Chorale, under the direction of C. William Gorham, of the college adjunct music faculty. The concert will be presented in the College “Great Hall” beginning at 4:00 p.m. The program will include music of the Christmas season, popular winter holiday songs, and portions of Handel’s “Messiah.” Singers in the audience will be invited to join with the Chorale for the “Messiah” choruses.

Donations in appreciation of the music will be accepted and proceeds go to support the Bishop High School Music Scholarship fund. Light refreshments will be on sale and funds received will also go toward the scholarship fund. The Music Society of the Eastern Sierra, along with the college, sponsors these concerts and will administer the scholarship awards to qualifying students.

For more information, please contact the Bishop campus of Cerro Coso Community College at (760) 872-1565.
