eBooks... Learn it!What are eBooks?eBooks are electronic versions of print books. Like print books, the text found in eBooks is often enriched with photos, illustrations, graphs and tables. In eBooks, users can navigate through the text (e.g. easily search for specific passages) in ways not possible in print. What is netLibrary and the Cerro Coso Community College eBook Collection? The Cerro Coso Community College has purchased approximately 21,532 electronic books (eBooks) from netLibrary. Cerro Coso Community College in concert with netLibrary, makes it possible for you to access a wide range of research, reference and reading materials online. The Cerro Coso Community College eBook Collection was purchased to meet the needs of our library's users. In addition, when you search the collection, you'll note an option for publicly accessible eBooks — classic works of literature and history. Accessing the eBooks NEW!Your Student ID number will give you access to the eBooks when you click on the Log-in link.
If this does not work, it is because your registration was later than the date we put all of the ID numbers into the library system file. The page that informs you that your ID was denied will have a link to apply for access. After applying, your Student ID will be added to the online file. You will then be sent an email within 24 hours during the regular work week informing you that you have access to the online eBooks. Logging inEach time you wish to check out an eBook when you access it remotely, you must
first log in. (You must access the eBooks first through the Cerro
Coso Community College Library's web page).
Searching for an eBookStart your search in one of two places: Browsing an eBookYou may browse an eBook without logging in. Browsing an
eBook is the equivalent of taking a book off the shelf and looking through
it. While you are actively using it, no other user will have access to it.
Must I be connected to the Internet to access netLibrary's titles?Yes. To view, browse, and check out your library's eBook collection, you must begin online. Can I print an eBook? You can print single pages of an eBook, much like you can print a single page of a print book on a photocopy machine. Sections of pages, within limitations, can also be copied and pasted into reports and presentations. Who do I contact if I need more information?Staff at Cerro Coso Community College Library can answer your questions about using eBooks. Need help over the telephone? Call Cerro Coso Community College Library at 760-384-6131. |
