LAC Services

The Learning Assistance Center provides several types of academic assistance for students, they are:

TUTORING

Tutoring is available from trained tutors for almost every subject offered by the college. Students may enroll in this one-half unit course and work with tutors hired, trained, and supervised by faculty. Students may come with or without an appointment (though appointments are preferred) to work with a tutor, usually in small peer groups. Students should bring their assignments, homework, or questions, and we'll provide the tools needed to excel. Be smart--sign up for a tutor early in the semester and give yourself every chance for success!

COMPUTER ASSISTED TUTORING

Do you need to review English grammar or get help with Algebra? The LAC has computers with Algebra, English Grammar, reading, basic math, and more. No special skills are necessary and it's free!

GED PREPARATION

The Learning Center has computerized instruction specifically written to correlate with the GED. Before attempting the exam, students may enroll in this one-half unit course to brush up on their skills.

VIDEOS

Course related videos for Basic Skills Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Pre-Calculus are available for overnight checkout or viewing in the LAC.

CLEP & PROCTORING

College Level Examination Program is a way to earn college credits by examination. Thirty-five different exams covering a variety of subjects are available. Proctoring of exams for coursework completed at other institutions is available. A fee is charged for CLEP and Proctored exams.
