Kern Valley Associated Students Club Minutes:  April 5, 2000

The Meeting was called to order at 1:05pmin room #13.  There was a quorum present.  Minutes were approved as read.

Officer Reports                                                                                                                                    President Trina Guerra:  Three board members attended the ASB Meeting Cal State Bakersfield: Fri April 14th.  .  Very informative, they follow parliamentary procedure.  We need to start enforcing this also.

REMINDER:  Need to set stay on task for graduation plans, events, proposals etc.  Follow calendar we set as guideline.  We STILL need to decide what this year’s ASB Board is going to donate to our campus:  Lab equipment, easels, etc.

Treasurer:   Francis Parilla:  $4515.28 in our account as of last meeting.  New tally not available from Patsy yet as some deposits have not been recorded.  Updated amount will be presented at next board meeting.

SECOND REMINDER Need to spend some of our funds in order for Ridgecrest to provide fall 2000-Spring 2001 seed money.

Vice President Tracy Mitchell:  Newsletter contest was announced Issue #4 Newsletter.   Deadlines/starting a classified column. (Students can fill out form in office and have staff put in Sandie’s Mailbox.  She will type them up for Newsletter            

Secretary Sandie Sparks:  students are allowed to post campaign IN STUDENT GALLERY ONLY111

Advisor:  Paul Monk sat in for Alita Elfstrom

OLD BUSINESS: Tutor Bulletin Board moved to inside Room 11.  Ameri Corp Bulletin Board placed inside Room 11Ameri Cor Bulletin Board placed on wall by office.

NEW BUSINESS: 

ASB voted to purchase pull down maps for Paul Monk’s History Department

ASB voted to purchase 12 stand-up easels for Alita Elfstrom’s Art Department

Finalized dates for the following events:

 Campaigning April 1st through April

Student/Teacher of the Year Voting April 26th, will be done in classrooms.  TRACY is organizing.

ASB VOTING BALLOTS:  Keith Elfstrom will design

ASB OFFICER Voting April 24th through April 28th.   Paul Monk’s Poli Sci class will count votes

ASB ELECTION RESULTS;  David will post in Student Gallery/Lounge Area.

Spring Bazaar: Downstairs Room G Wed. May 3rd, 10-4pm every member needs to sign up and donate time to run this event!  Theme:  Mother’s Day/Spring.  10% proceeds goes to ASB Club.  Please, No junk!

Cultural Festival-moved to Memorial weekend Francis is working on permits, checking health codes and vendor sites.

 

FRANCIS HAS SEVERAL ITEMS TO DISCUSS:  SHE HAS RESERVED THE FLOOR FOR THE REMAINDER OF MEETING

1.                Snack machine we wished to purchase 19 snacks, will 210 items proposal for the funds plus a one-time $500 voucher to stock machine was turned down by Ridgecrest.  We  need a corporate purchase order, someone to purchase machine first  on his or her credit card and submit bill to Ridgecrest for payment.  Proceeds from the machine will pay for future stock.  ASB board members will work in teams of at least two persons to service/stock/deal with money from machines.

2.                            Bake Sales:  On hold indefinitely.  You want future ones, you will have to come to Francis’s house and help her prepare them!  She is tired of doing it all by herself.

3.                            Spring Bazaar: Downstairs Room G Wed. May 3rd, 10-4pm every member needs to sign up and donate time to run this event!  Several ASB members work in office and have classes.  Their time slots need to be filled.  Need 1 cashier and food server available for all open hours.  Everyone must take their turn!  Theme:  Mother’s Day/Spring.  10% proceeds goes to ASB Club.  Please, No junk!

4.                            Every member needs to donate TIME to all ASB EVENTS!  These are group projects, not just Francis/David/& Tracy!

5.                            Is getting in trouble in the office for doing ASB work during her shift.  Needs more involvement from other ASB members!

6.                            Everyone needs to be committed to organizing, setting up and running the cultural festival Memorial Weekend.  No exceptions!

7.                            Soda Machine shipping charges: $300.  Proposal turned down by Ridgecrest .  Need Corporate invoice to present to Ridgecrest.

8.                            Ridgecrest is concerned how we got so much money in our account this year.  They are reviewing our account information.
