Kern Valley Associated Students Club Minutes:  March 22, 2000

The Meeting was called to order at 1:05pm in the student lounge area next to the vending machines.  There was a quorum present.  All officers and board members were in attendance.  Minutes were approved as read.

Officer Reports                                                                                                                                    President Trina Guerra:  Need to set stay on task for graduation plans, events, proposals etc.  Follow calendar we set as guideline.  We still need to decide what this year’s ASB Board is going to donate to our campus:  Lab equipment, easels, etc.

Vice President Tracy Mitchell:  Proposal for Newsletter contest approved by Clay.  Details will be announced in March 2000 Issue #4 Newsletter.   deadlines/starting a classified column. (Students can fill out form in office and have staff put in Sandie’s Mailbox.  She will type them up for Newsletter             (new business March 22nd meeting).

Secretary Sandie Sparks:  March 8th minutes approved as read (Find out where students are allowed to post campaign posters from Clay, new business March 22nd meeting)

Treasurer:   Francis Parilla:  $4515.28 in our account. Need to spend some of our funds in order for Ridgecrest to provide Fall 2000-Spring 2001 seed money.

Board Member David:  Plans are being made by the shopping center for the go ahead to finally install the Bike rack.  Sponsor List is still being fine-tuned.

Advisor:  Status of donated vending machines:  will update each meeting.  Tutor Bulletin Board was mounted on wall space designated for Student Gallery: 

OLD BUSINESS: Tutor Bulletin Board in Student Gallery:  Will be placed somewhere else to give the gallery back their designated space.  Due to miscommunications Tutoring Services were not informed the space was reserved before they placed board.                                                                                                                         Finalized dates for the following events: ASB Meeting Cal State Bakersfield: Fri April 14th.                                                                                                                                     ASB New Officers for Fall 2000-Spring 2001 Year Campaigning April 1st through April 28th ASB Voting April 24th through April 28th.   Paul Monk’s Poli Sci class will count votes                                                                                                                        Spring Bazaar: Downstairs Room G Wed. May 3rd, 10-4pm every member needs to sign up and donate time to run this event!  Theme:  Mother’s Day/Spring.  10% proceeds goes to ASB Club.  Please, No junk!                                                                                          Kern Campus Annual Awards Ceremony- Mary 26th Lake Isabella Senior Center   Cultural Festival-moved to Memorial weekend Francis is working on finalizing proposal and details

NEW BUSINESS: Board Selected /voted on Snack machine we wish to purchase 19 snacks, will hold 210 items.  Francis will write up a proposal for the funds plus a one-time $500 voucher to stock machine.  Proceeds from the machine will pay for future stock.  ASB board members will work in teams of at least two persons to service/stock/deal with money from machines.

Bake Sales:  On hold till March 29th.  State coming to inspect campus March 15th.  The following Wed.  March 22nd is just before students receive monthly Pell grant checks.  Next bake sale will be Wed March 29th.  Every member needs to donate time or food to this event!  This is a group project, not just Francis/David/& Tracy!
