The IHTC provides
needed on-going training to classified, faculty, and administrative
personnel on a variety of topics using the expertise from within Cerro Coso
College. A primary goal is to keep the training brief and targeted so that
members will be motivated to attend the training. By promoting on-the-job training in an easily accessible format,
the expectation is that Cerro Coso’s employees will become more efficient,
effective, and a more skilled workforce.

Topics & Trainers
Training topics are not limited just to computer software. Our Community
College system is diverse, and within Cerro Coso College alone there are
numerous procedures and processes for employees to learn and understand. The
purpose of the IHTC is to provide the training you need, regardless of what
kind of training that may be. When recommending or requesting training
topics, keep in mind that the topics don't have to be limited to things on a
computer. View list of current training topics in

"Teach what you know!"
The trainers are you! Every employee at the college has the potential to
be an IHTC trainer. "Teach what you know" is the motto of the IHTC and everyone has a set of skills and expertise that they
could share with others here at the college. The intent of the training
sessions are to be targeted to no more than 1 or 2 topics, with no
preparation involved, no handouts and no PowerPoints. All we're looking for
is for trainers to be able to walk in and share what they already know with
others to help build collective knowledge, increase efficiency and boost
productivity. So, what do you know?

Certificates of Achievement
Both trainees and trainers have the opportunity to earn Certificates of
Achievement for the number of sessions they attend or offer. Each group of
10 sessions attended or offered, the equivalent of 5 hours of training,
earns a certificate. Participants are responsible for tracking their own
progress and may request a Certificate of Achievement upon completion and
verification of each group of 10 sessions.
These certificates demonstrate a commitment to professional
development and may be submitted to supervisors as part of performance
evaluation packets and they may be added to your employee records to
recognize training received. (see
sample)
