7.24 Cerro Coso Animation Student Featured in Hot Rodding Magazine
The Academy of Digital Animation is pleased to announce that Kris Horton, a student in this year's Academy 7, was the subject of a feature article in Popular Hot Rodding Magazine this month. The article presents Kris' CG automotive modeling work and includes a critique of Kris' work by Jim Warren, a 42-year GM veteran and the head instructor at GM University.

Relay For Life
You are invited to join Cerro Coso College and the American Cancer Society in the fight against Cancer. To participate in this 24 hour event, held on October 4th – October 5th, come to the Switchboard with $5 and select an open 30 minute time slot to walk around the Burroughs High School track. Curt Sherwood Fundraisers
On Thursday, October 30th there will be a “Halloween” Curt Sherwood Fundraiser Bake Sale in the Student Center from 10:00 a.m. until the goodies are gone. If you have any questions, or would like to donate goodies and/or your time to the bake sale, contact Jill King in the Special Services Office in Room 219 or call her at 384-6250. There is also a jar of candy located in the Book Nook and for just $.25¢ (one quarter) you can take a guess at how many pieces of candy are in the jar. The two (2) closest guesses, without going over, will each win a lovely basket filled with an assortment of goodies. Guesses can be purchased from now until 5:00 p.m. on October 30th. The winners will be contacted later that day.

The Special Services / CARE Program will be holding a “Fall Family Fun Day” on Friday, October 24th from 3:00-4:30 p.m. in the Sculpture Garden for CARE students and their children (a sign-up sheet in located in Room 219). The Greatest Chili Cook Off Ever
ARTS Action presents a chili cook off, October 15 at 2:00 pm. Have some of the greatest chili ever in a hand-made ceramic bowl for $5-$10ea and the chili is free. You can also purchase a plastic bowl for $3. Cornbread and refreshments will be provided by ARTS Action along with other baked goods. First, Second, and Third prizes will be awarded.

KCCD Student Information System (Coyote Connection) Scheduled Downtime
Over the weekend of November 22nd and 23rd, starting at 10pm, Friday, November 21st, the Coyote Connection and all related services will be offline to allow for a required software upgrade. All services will be available again by 7am, Monday, November 24th.

The Cerro Coso Community College spring term begins January 21, 2004. In preparation Cerro Coso will be giving placement exams for the spring term. The placement exam is free and measures writing, reading, and math skills. It is suggested that prospective students with no prior college level English and Math take this exam. Read more...
