CCCC “No-Fear Friday” MOS Certification Specials
Cerro Coso College will administer the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)
certification test for Office versions 2000 or 2002 of MS Word, MS
Excel, MS Access, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook core or MS Word Expert and
MS Excel Expert on Fridays, March 7, 14, 21, 28, 2003, 3-5 p.m. The
Microsoft Office User Specialist certificate provides formal recognition
of proficiency in one or more of the Microsoft Office desktop
applications. For students and employees this certificate can be a
valuable asset in any job search or career advancement. The cost for
taking each Microsoft exam is $50. Visit

During the month of March any exam failed on Fridays, Certiport, the
certification agency, will offer a free re-take within 30 days. Also
between now and March 15, 2003, Certiport will recognize the top scores
in each exam with a free Microsoft Xbox game system. Call the college at

the Spring 2003 “Student of the Semester” TIMOTHY HARWELL (from Kern

"Peace Offerings"
Cerro Coso Art Department Proudly Presents: “Peace Offerings” by Ulrica
Bell-Perkins. Cerro Coso’s very own has gotten a show to exhibit her art
work. Ricky has served as an English professor on the South Kern campus
for many years and is celebrating her retirement this spring. Her love
of art has provided an impressive body of artworks that are being shown
in various venues. The show will run until April 17th. |

Cerro Coso Animation Student Featured in Hot Rodding Magazine
The Academy of Digital Animation is pleased to announce that Kris
Horton, a student in this year's Academy 7, was the subject of a feature
article in Popular Hot Rodding Magazine this month. The article presents
Kris' CG automotive modeling work and includes a critique of Kris' work
by Jim Warren, a 42-year GM veteran and the head instructor at GM
University.

Digital Media Youth Camp a Success
The Academy of Media Arts at CCCC offered a month long Digital Media
Youth Camp to local youth from our communities. The camp ran Monday
through Thursday, 8am to 3pm. Participants learned about digital cameras
and digital video cameras, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere and
Macromedia Flash. They also spent time outdoors, drawing and doing other
fun stuff. Graduates will have an opportunity to show their work at the
upcoming Animation Awards Festival on August 20th. To learn more about
