A letter writing campaign sponsored by the Special Services Club and embraced by the IWV and KRV students and faculty have generated more than 1,200 letters regarding the opposed cuts to the community colleges and programs.

Associated Students of Cerro Coso (ASCC) donated $500 for stamps. Envelopes and paper have been donated by students and faculty. The letter writing was jumped started the week of March 3rd with a table and popcorn rally in the Student Center. The Chamber of Commerce provided the popcorn machine and popcorn for the week. Faculty, staff and students volunteered their personal time to cover the writing table.

The writing campaign was moved to the LAC the week of March 10th which generated well over 300 letters. Students have also volunteered to obtain signatures on petitions from the community by standing outside of Wal-Mart and K-Mart. We will continue with this letter writing campaign until the budget cuts are brought into alignment and no program loses its integrity to provide excellence in education to our community.
