College Celebrates 35th Anniversary with Denim & Diamonds Gala
Cerro Coso Community College is celebrating
35 years of educational excellence with an Anniversary Denim & Diamonds
Gala. The dinner/dancing and silent auction evening of fun and
entertainment is slated for April 24 at the Kerr McGee Center.
The evening festivities will begin at 5 p.m. with a social hour (music
provided by Tom Foggia and Dan Peterson), followed by dinner at 6 p.m.;
the program at 7 p.m., and dancing from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. The
King of Denim and Queen of Diamonds Coronation will take place at 8:30
p.m. The silent auction will run throughout the evening. Proceeds
generated from the event will benefit Cerro Coso College programs and
services.
Tickets for the Denim & Diamonds Gala are only $25.00 per person.
Tickets are available from the Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce, Red Rock
Books, and the Cerro Coso Business Office. “Just come dressed in
your denim outfit, your fancy formal attire or a combination of the two!
The evening is all about having fun,” stated Dr. Mary Retterer,
President of Cerro Coso Community College.
Special Services 28th Annual Awards Presentation
It is with pleasure that the Special Services
Program announces the “28th Annual Special Services Awards Presentation”
to be held Friday, April 24, 2009, 9:30am-12:00pm in the Student Center.
During this presentation the Special Services Program will honor Special
Services students receiving Diplomas, General Education Degree’s
(G.E.D.) and Certificates of Completion. The Special Services Program
will also include an alumni speaker and their choices for Student,
Faculty, and Classified Staff of the year. A delicious brunch will
be served for guests and honorees before the ceremony. “The
Tradition Continues” awards ceremony is free to all who would like to

25th Annual Spring Awards luncheon
Thursday, May 7th 11:00am. The ASCC
will be honoring students who have a 4.0 grade point average for the
Spring and Fall semesters of 2008 with an acquired minimum of 40 grade
points, an outstanding student from each department, an outstanding
student from each site, The CCCC Foundation Athlete, Faculty and adjunct

College to Present Piano Concert
The Associated Students of Cerro Coso Community College are pleased to
present a FREE Piano concert to be given by Natasha (Natalia) Kislenko.
The concert will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the
College Lecture Center. The public is welcome to this FREE concert
of musical enjoyment.
College to Hold Earth Day Celebration
The Cerro Coso Community College, Associated Students of Cerro Coso
(A.S.C.C.) are proud to sponsor an “Earth Day Celebration,” on Tuesday,
April 21, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the fountain area off
the College Student Center. The public is invited. The
following groups will be participating along with several of the
College’s student clubs: Bureau of Land Management (BLM) – student
conservation group; IWV Water District, Kerncrest Audubon Society;
Maturango Museum; Southern California Edison energy unit; Cerro
Coso’s Information Technology Department will be hosting a Electronic
Waste Recycle drop off point, the College will be conducting a Curt
Sherwood fundraiser yard sale; Associated Students of Cerro Coso will be
selling reusable shopping bags; Phi Theta Kappa will be showing
screenings in the College Lecture Center on Global Warming; produced by
the University of California Television, and there will also be a guest
speaker or two on Wind Energy and Solar Technologies. This should
be a great event! Visit the College for this Earth Day Celebration
