Samuel Irving Selected as the 2008 “STUDENT OF THE SEMESTER”
The Alumni Board of Directors and invited
guests will be honoring Samuel Irving at an awards luncheon on Thursday,
May 1 in recognition of his dedication and many academic achievements.
The Alumni Association Would like to congratulate Samuel and also thank
all Cerro Coso faculty for their nominations.
“EARTH DAY CELEBRATION”
The Associated Students of Cerro Coso (A.S.C.C.) will sponsor an
“Earth Day Celebration,” on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 from 11:00 am
until 4:00 pm. The public is invited. The day will include a
barbecue (food sold by the Coyote Kitchen) and a live band (Crumville).
The celebration will feature tours of Cerro Coso’s Solar Field, the
Blue Star Memorial Eco-trail and a Hybrid “Ride and Drive” Car Show.
Information will include a model wind generator and the new
Alternative Energy Technician program. The Student
Conservation Association will be present with brochures highlighting
their work locally and nationally. Indian Wells Valley Water
District will have a booth with a variety of literature including
“101 Water Wise Ways” and their “Planting Guide for the Indian Wells
Valley.” The Oasis Garden Club will also provide information
on gardening. The A.S.C.C. will be giving away compact
florescent light bulbs provided by Southern California Edison.
They will also be selling “Chico” Bags (reusable nylon shopping bags
in a convenient stuff pouch) and Earth Day T-Shirts. Many of
Cerro Coso’s Student Clubs will be conducting fund raisers. The
celebration will culminate with Dr. Mary Retterer’s signing of the
Taillores Declaration, joining other colleges and universities in
the commitment to environmental responsibility. For

“Building Futures” Special Services 27th
Annual Awards Ceremony
The Special Services Program is pleased to announce “Building
Futures”, Special Services 27th Annual Awards Ceremony on Friday,
May 2, 2008, 9:30 am -12:00 pm, to be held in the Cerro Coso Student
Center. During this presentation the Special Services Program
will honor Special Services students receiving Diplomas, General
Education Degree’s and Certificates of Completion. The program will
also include an alumni speaker, and presentations for Student,
Faculty, and Classified Staff of the year. A delicious brunch
will be served for guests and honorees before the ceremony.
“Building Futures” awards ceremony is free to all who would like to
come.

for you to choose from to show your team spirit! Haven’t got time

station 92.7 FM
