Counseling to Hold “PARENT NIGHT” For High School Seniors
The Cerro Coso Community College
Counseling Office will be hosting a “Parent Night” on Wednesday,
April 18, 2007 from 7:00 to 8:00pm in the Learning Resource
Center, Art Gallery. Cerro Coso staffers would like to encourage
the parents of seniors at Burroughs High School, Mesquite High
School, Trona High School, Immanuel High School, and
Opportunities for Learning, who’s students intend to come to
Cerro Coso and then transfer on to a four-year university, to
come to Cerro Coso Community College for a presentation on the
College’s Transfer Program and a general overview of Cerro Coso.
Topics to be discussed will include the admissions and
enrollment process, placement testing, and registering for
classes. An overview of Cerro Coso’s degrees and certificates
will also be explained.
If you are planning to transfer from Cerro Coso to a four-year
university, an explanation of transfer requirements and transfer
resources will be provided. It is important to know the transfer
requirements so that you are well prepared prior to
transferring.
Penny Tally, Special Services Counselor will discuss Cerro
Coso’s Special Services Program. She will explain the
eligibility requirements and the students’ rights and
responsibilities.
Joann Spiller, Director Financial Aid and Scholarships, will be
on hand to discuss opportunities that are available to you
through Financial Aid and Scholarships.
Other speakers include: Heather Ostash, Counseling Director;
Paula Suorez, Counseling & CalWorks Coordinator; Betty
Mintz-Jones, Educational Advisor; Wendy Adams, Educational
Advisor; and Karee Hamilton, Adjunct Counselor. Student
Ambassadors will also be participating at the event.

Transfer Q & A Workshop

Do you have questions about your transfer options, admissions

workshop will help to clarify the process of transferring to a UC, CSU,
or private/independent college.

Cerro Coso College Presents
"A Night of Comedy" Improv Show
Get ready to be dazzled by the
incredible improvisational comedy of the “Who Said What Now?”
Improv Troupe. The troupe will present “A Night of Comedy” on
Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. The performance will take
place in the Cerro Coso Lecture Center. Tickets are $3 and will
be available at the door. According to Joshua Horton, CCCC
Theatre Arts Club President, “This is an amazing troupe. I can’t

Presents
Spring 2007 Concert

The Cerro Coso College Community Band will perform their Spring
Concert, featuring Paul Decker on tuba, in a performance of
“Tuba Tiger Rag.” The concert will also feature the themes to
classic TV shows including: Happy Days, Brady Bunch, Bewitched,
The Addams Family, and I Love Lucy. For the kids, the band will
perform themes from popular cartoons including: Bugs Bunny, The
Flintstones, The Jetsons, The Simpsons, Pink Panther, and
Animaniacs.
The concert will also include an
original animation created by the Department of Media Arts,
which will be shown while the band performs, “Stormchasers,” by
Larry Neeck. Other musical selections will include: “Into the
Joy of Spring,” “Plaza de Toros,” “Spiderman” – from the movie
soundtrack, “Travelin’ Trumpets,” “Birdland,” and the original
Sousa rag, “With Pleasure.” The concert is sure to be fun for
the whole family! The public is invited to attend this FREE
concert. Doors open at 7:00pm
