About This Website (CCCC v3.0) (and v3.1)NavigationWe have attempted to provide an efficient means of navigation to our users. The user is provided with global links, contained at the header and left column of the pages. You will also find a Quick Links drop down menu feature that will allow you to quickly navigate to popular pages in our website. From the homepage a target audience navigation section guides users to pages that are designed especially for them, these include; Prospective students, Current students, Faculty & Staff, Alumni, and General Public. Download SpeedThis site is designed to be downloaded in less than 30 seconds on a 56K modem and utilizes an interface that will enhance download times of second-level pages. Download time will vary based on connection speed. AccessibilityThis website has been designed to meet Priority 1 accessibility standards as set by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) under their Web Accessibility Initiative and U.S. Government Section 508 accessibility standards.
Bobby is defunct, so any Bobby icons have been removed. However, we still strive to meet accessibility standards. If you have difficulties accessing any part of the site, or wish to suggest any improvements, please let the webmaster know. Documents & TechnologyThis website utilizes standard HTML, GIF, and JPEG files as well as Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF files and Flash 6.0+ files. If you do not have the Free Acrobat Reader or the Free Flash Player please download the software now to make optimum use of the information contained in this site. This site also uses Javascript and Dynamic HTML for minimal navigational and rollover image effects, though all links function and information is accessible with Javascript disabled, with the exception of the Quicklinks drop down menu.
Many pages on the website have been updated to meet the standards for HTML 5. The javascript and DHTML for rollover image effects have been replaced with CSS. The javascript library jQuery has been used on some pages for striping table rows and creating row highlighting effects. jQuery has also been used to mask form field inputs and to validate forms. FeedbackThis site design is the third major revision of the Cerro Coso website. As we
continue to make improvements, we would appreciate your comments and
suggestions. Please email your comments to
webmaster@cerrocoso.edu. Links to Third Party SitesSome of the pages on the Cerro Coso College site contain links to third party sites not operated by Cerro Coso College. Those sites are not within our control and may not follow the same privacy, security, or accessibility standards as ours. We are not responsible for the content or availability of those sites, their partners, or advertisers. Site Redesign ProcessIn redesigning this site, now in it's third revision, we utilized new methods in the hopes of improving our site. A committee was formed of students, faculty, staff, and administrators to provide input on the navigation, organization, and look of the site. After the navigation and organization was determined by the committee concept designs were suggested and voted upon. Once the design was chosen and a prototype constructed user tests were performed using volunteers from the college community. Most important to us was the feedback provided by our students on how we could improve the usability of our site. After user tests were completed and suggestions implemented the final construction was completed. We hope that our site is greatly enhanced over our previous site and that our design is pleasing to the eye. If you have any suggestions on how we can further improve our site feel free to let us know! Revised August 12, 2000. with additions on Dec 6, 2011 |
