    This course is designed to provide basic education and training for the individual who is interested in working as a Clinical Medical Assistant in a medical or clinical back office. Topics include basic medical and surgical aseptic techniques, principles of nutrition, pharmacology, and medication administration. Common office practices, such as vital signs and assisting with routine exams and procedures, are discussed and practiced in the Skills Lab. An overview of common diagnostic laboratory tests is presented. Emphasis is placed on client education and the role of the medical assistant.
