ASCC Clubs

Arts and Leisure Club

The Arts and Leisure Club is dedicated to introducing its members, as well Cerro Coso students and residents of the community, to artistic concepts, the art world in general, and with opportunities to participate in workshops that will increase their talents and broaden their realm of interaction with the art world. The Arts and Leisure Club includes students involved in the many different fields of art, from sculpture and two-dimensional art to ceramics, photography and computer-aided imaging. The Arts and Leisure Club puts on workshops to introduce students to various media or techniques to help further the education of art students and interested individuals. You don’t have to be an artist or an art student to become a member! Anyone interested in art, past and present, is welcome! If you are interested in becoming a club member, come to a club meeting or Loren Sandvik in the Art Department. You can do this in person or contact them via the Cerro Coso website.

Athletic Club

For more info contact Tom Heck at 384-6384.

Care Club

The Care Club provides students with the opportunity to develop a networking system that is cohesive with the challenges they encounter on a day-to-day basis. The Club offers workshops and presentations that promote the skills and tools needed to enhance their success in everyday life. This Club is designed to enhance self-advocacy and increase self-esteem. We encourage all interested students to attend our meetings on the 1st Thursday of each month from 12:30-1:30 in EW 203. Contact Paula Suorez at 384-6219 or Penny Talley at 384-6250 for more info.

Creative Writing Community

The purpose of this organization is to promote and support student and community interest in creative writing, contemporary literature, and the arts and to produce an annual college literary journal. Members are encouraged to develop an understanding and foster a sense of community involvement and obligation. Contact advisor Don Rosenberg for more info 384-6272.

Science Club

You don’t have to be a science “nut” to enjoy the “Science Club” because it's both social and educational! Contact advisor David Miller for more info @ 384-6307.

Special Service Club

The Special Services Club provides an opportunity for Special Services students to develop leadership skills through the presentation of various campus and community activities on cooperation with other organizations. The underlying theme for the club’s activities is to educate the college and community about ethnic-cultural diversity and about the needs and contribution of disabled and economically challenged people. Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month in the Lecture Center from 12:30-1:30pm. Contact advisor Paula Suorez for more info at 384-6219.
